Software

Technology is here to make our lives easier – at least that’s what we’re told. More often than not, though, it just seems to make our lives more complicated. We have more passwords to remember, more websites to visit, and more gadgets in our pockets. Technology really can make life simpler. You just have to know where to look. Here are eight apps for your smartphone that will genuinely make your life easier.

1. iRuler

This is a free app for the iPhone that does exactly what apps should do: It puts everyday household objects within easier reach. In this case, iRuler functions as a ruler for those times when you need one but don’t want to get up to get it.

2. Waze

If you’re looking for a good driving app, look no further. Waze provides updates about your route in real time, helping you avoid traffic, police, and even find the cheapest gas prices on your way.

3. HootSuite

For anyone overwhelmed by all the social media options available, HootSuite simplifies it all for you. Post to all your social media outlets from one location, eliminating the need to go to all the individual websites or apps.

4. Alarm.com

This app works with your alarm system you’ve set up for your house, allowing you to turn the alarm off or on and check the system’s status. No more worrying that you forgot to secure your home before you left, and you’ll have the ability to control the temperature of your home, and unlock doors on command.

5. SkyGrid

SkyGrid works to consolidate all your news blogs and media into one location with easy photo browsing. It’s much easier to keep up with the latest happenings when you can view it all from a single app.

6. Find My iPhone

One of the most frustrating things about having so many small electronics is how easy they are to lose. With this app, all you have to do is sign into your account from somewhere else, and it will locate your missing phone for you.

7. Red Laser

This app makes shopping for groceries much easier by finding the cheapest prices for everything you need. Simply scan the barcode of the item you’re considering, and Red Laser will tell you if it’s available cheaper anywhere else.

8. Any.Do

If you have trouble getting organized with your to-do lists, this app is here to help. Put in the information you need and you can get reminders of tasks you need to accomplish and deadlines you need to meet.

9. Evernote

Evernote is like no other organization app out there. This app will help you get more organized, and stay organized, remember what needs to be done, plan trips, make voice notes, and does this all while keeping all of your devices in sync with one another.
